Litostroj Power at Hydro 2018 in Gdansk

Litostroj Power actively participated at the Hydro 2018 conference organized by The International Journal on Hydropower & Dams. This annual event took place from October 14th to October 17th in the amber city of Gdansk, Poland.

The Hydro 2018 brought together people from about 80 countries to focus on the most relevant topics facing the sector today. There was 36 conference sessions where discussions about development opportunities, technical innovation, international collaboration, environmental and social aspects, hazard and risk, civil engineering, training and capacity building, project finance & contractual issues, pumped storage, extending the life of hydro assets, sedimentation management, small and low-head hydro and many other relevant topics was taken.

On the exhibitor’s floor, there was a collection of more than 160 hydro-related product and service providers, who provided business and networking opportunities and products. Altogether, the Hydro 2018 connected participants, shared insights on challenges affecting hydro and industry’s most important and trending topics. 

Litostroj Power participated, sponsored and co-created this event. There were numerous discussions and meetings at the Litostroj Power’s exhibition stand as well as there were two excellent technical presentations presented during the conference sessions. The first presentation, presented by Dr. Gregor Alič, discussed Optimization of Francis turbine startup procedure to extend the runner lifetime and the second presentation, presented by Dr. Janez Gale, discussed Challenges of meeting governor response requirements of hydro generating units within primary grid frequency control per Commission Regulation (EU) 2016/631.
