Graduate students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of University in Ljubljana visited Litostroj Power as part of the school curriculum. We took them on a tour to see our production facilities. For the majority of them it was the first opportunity to visit a manufacturing facility and to see first-hand how hydro turbines are being manufactured.
“So this is how manufacturing looks like” commented one of the students, as they were impressed by the size of the machines and the equipment that is currently being produced. Litostroj Power is working tightly with the local faculties and high schools in order to enable the students the experience and the understanding how a manufacturing companies look like.
Nevertheless, we try to include students during their studies with different apprenticeships, scholarships and traineeships in different departments in our company. With spending some weeks or months with us, they can gain some valuable and practical experience and for us, this is the way to attract young workers, engineers, designers and other to bring our company fresh energy and ideas.
We are aware of that knowledge and experience has to be transferred from older employees to younger ones, and also the other way around – young people should get opportunities to grow and to spread their outside the box thinking. With collaboration we can grow faster.
